My wife and I have learnt not to underrate children; given an opportunity they can perform miracles. Kids are original thinkers while we tend to think along past experience. So our kids are part and parcel of the management team.
The farm employs over 20 workers from the surrounding villages contributing to social and economic development of the country.
We purchased the farm in 2006 when it was just vast land and nothing to write about. Over the years we have transformed the farm into a heaven of fruit and vegetables to the extent that it caught the attention of professionals and institutions in the field of agriculture. Natural Resources College, an agricultural college, featured our farm on TVM when they were promoting their Horticultural Course and Bunda College of Agriculture, a constituent college of University of Malawi, invited our family to talk about the role of horticulture in Malawi, in the context of declining returns from the Tobacco Industry.
The farm is a green farm. We use solar energy for irrigation because we want to take care of the environment in which we are operating. The farm will go organic in the future.
